HOW TO IDENTIFY RADIO TYPES FOR CORRECT ESTIMATE SELECTION.

NUMBER OF TUBES -
 

The pictures below show some sample tube types when you are counting the number of tubes your radio has.

POWER TRANSFORMERS -

The picture below shows a typical power transformer found in the larger and more complex radios. Almost all console radios have power transformers. They almost always are large black, square, elements as shown in the photo.


 

1936 or Older -

All radios that are 1936 or older have tubes that look like the ones illustrated below -

When in doubt, look on the label that is usually inside the radio cabinet (usually wood) and verify the date. (see below)

WEIGHT -

 

The weight of the radio is the combined weight of the radio and cabinet and speaker if it is a smaller radio that is being shipped to us. On the large console radios, we will ask you to send only the chassis with the tubes and the speaker both of which must be de-installed from the large wooden console cabinet. The total weight then is the combined weight of the chassis and speaker.
